Whether wars be waged in the east or west, It is the murder of world-peace. Whether houses be bombed or borders The temple of the Soul is wounded. Whether our farms be torched or others’ It is life that convulses with hunger. Whether tanks roll forward or retreat, The earth’s womb is desecrated. Whether its the celebration of victory or mourning of loss, It is Life that weeps at the graveside. War is a problem itself. How will war resolve problems? Today it will rain fire and blood, Tomorrow, hunger and scarcity. Thus, O’ all people of decency, Its better if war is averted. And better too, if in our courtyards The flame of peace flickers ceaselessly. [Translated for India Together by Pradyumna Singh. Contact Shabnam Hashmi for copies.

Poem: Bertold Brecht (translated to Hindi) Poster Design and image: Parthiv Shah Yudh Abhi Nahin, Yudh Kabhi Nahin Yudh Jo Aa Raha Hai Pehla Yudh Nahin Hai. Is sey Pahele Bhi Yudh Huey They. Pichala Yudh Jab Khatm Hua Tab Kutch Vijeyta Bane or Kutch Vijit, Vijitoen Ke Beech Aam Aadmi Bhukhoon Mara Vijetayon Ke Beech Bhi Mara Veh Bhookha Hi War - not now, not ever The coming battles, Are not the first battles fought, There have been many battles in the past. When the last war was over, There were winners and losers, The winners died of hunger, And the losers died of hunger. [Translated for India Together by Tarun Jain.
