North India Floods Appeal
Dear friends,
As you might have heard, eastern U.P. and north Bihar have been devastated by serious floods this year. They are saying it is a once-in-a-hundred year flood. 2 days back we went to the outskirts of Lucknow and distributed food to about 2000 people affected by the floods of Gomti, by raising some local contributions. We are now thinking of providing some relief to Gorakhpur, the worst affected district in U.P, this time. Because of the severity of floods the area has almost been cut-off and relief is not reaching properly. People are in a really terrible situation. In the meeting of the Asha chapter here next Sunday, we are likely to take a decision to provide help in two ways. One is immediate relief to help people cope up with the emergency. The second is long term where we may help people rebuild their houses, provide medical help, and so on. This is an appeal to contribute either individually or collectively to our flood relief activity. Checks written in the name of “Asha” may be sent to :
