Transit Schools and the Mylapore Times

A newspaper need not limit itself to reporting its beat; instead it can help shape the world it covers. This is the approach of the Mylapore Times Charitable Trust, a unique organization in one of Chennai’s most recognizable neighborhoods. Following the lead of a number of mainline newspapers which raised funds for various causes - the Kargil conflict, cyclones in Orissa, etc. - the Mylapore Times decided to initiate its own version of community involvement by the media. Who better, it would seem, to raise the concerns of the community than the very organization whose job it is to notice and publicize them?
